The Earth and Spirit group meets on the
2nd Sundays of the month after church in the lounge. Please join
us in transforming our church to pollute less and use our resources
wisely. A healthy vegetarian lunch will be provided and our meetings
are speedy: we only meet for 1 hour!
Check out these calls to action from
Marjorie Visher and the Earth And Spirit Committee (requires Adobe
Acrobat reader):
The Earth and Spirit group is something
of a subcommittee of the facilities
committee, focused on helping to make First Pres "walk our
talk" concerning the environment. The group in establishing
goals for itself decided to:
- be action-oriented, i.e. focused on
completing specific projects within a specific timeframe.
- work closely with the facilities committee
of the church.
- initially undertake a Fair Trade Coffee
campaign and change the lighting at the church to be more energy
efficient.
- seek to include materials in our bulletins
and work with the youth program to involve all members of the
church in our projects.
- include spiritual reflection as part
of our meetings and time for prayer.
There were many other ideas for projects
we could undertake to make our church facilities more environmentally-friendly.
We cannot do these without your help, so please consider joining
our group if making First Pres a good steward of the environment
is important to you.
If you have questions about the group,
please contact Margaret Okuzumi.
