Monthly Surveys gave each family a chance to reflect on their progress and provide the campaign with important feedback. The Cool Team compiled and presented survey data for each month's survey, to show what our community is accomplishing.
Surveys were restricted to community member participants of the First Pres Cool Campaign, and were provided via email invitation. Each month's survey provided access to the other monthly surveys that came before it.

Total Cool Campaign Results
Here are the final results, as reported by Ellen Wilkinson of Acterra:
CO2 Savings and Equivalencies:
For the five topic areas of Things You Plug In, Your Consumer Footprint, Winter Heat, Hot Water and Transportation, the TOTAL CO2 SAVED was 123.3 tons. This is equivalent to planting 12,330 trees or taking 22.6 cars off of the road. This is based on average survey response of 25.6 people or 32% of your campaign community.
Projected CO2 Savings:
Therefore, if we project that it is likely that full participant response of your 80-member campaign community may have been mid-way between double and triple the reported amount, our community's PROJECTED savings was 429 tons of CO2, which is equivalent to planting 34,320 trees or 78.7 cars off of the road.
Total Actions Performed:
Across all five categories, 2034 actions were reported, including a high number from reported "weekly" habits of using alternative modes of transportation which we calculate for one year.
Projected Actions Performed:
Using the average of double and triple the reported amounts, we project your full community performed 5085 actions because of your campaign.
Special Note about Actions Performed:
The current version of ACTerraGreen surveys did not report new habit actions that repeat over the course of a year, with the exception of the Transportation survey, although our next version of surveys will do this. For example, new surveys will take a response that one person uses a personal mug for coffee and calculate that this habit action will be performed at least 3 times per week or 156 times during a year. Based on our preliminary numbers over all topics that assign reasonable values for habits over the course of a year, such as in this example, we project your community has performed one-time actions and adopted habits that will result in 18,603 actions.
Projected Special Note on Actions Performed
Taking an average of double and triple that number, the projected total actions of your community is 46,507 over the course of a year.
Is that cool, or what?!
Here are the individual monthy results:
March Results
Our Transportation actions saved 14.6 tons of C02, which is equivalent to planting 1169
trees or taking 2.7 cars off of the road. Great work!
Apologies for the blurriness of these graphs. Click the graph to see an enlarged image. They have also been emailed to the Cool Campaign yahoo group.

February Results
Our Hot Water actions saved 25.7 tons of C02, which is equivalent to planting 2055
trees or taking 4.7 cars off of the road. Only 20% of you responded, so our overall savings may well have been much more than that.

January Results
The Winter Heating and Light actions saved 20.6 tons of C02, which is equivalent to planting 1649 trees or taking 3.8 cars off of the road.
