Palm Sunday 2006
| |
The congregation was surprised as a throng of protesters entered
the sanctuary, carrying signs and shouting slogans (OK, not so
surprised since most had seen the kids lining up outside before
service began).
| |
Promoting peace, social justice, and criticizing
Rome were the notes of the day on this Palm Sunday.
| |
The crowds cheered as the children came forward.... could they
sense that perhaps, finally, real change was on its way? Was there
a new leader with bold new ideas?
| |
Some signs were left at the alter, others brought into the circle,
anticipation filled the congregation.
| |
Singing, chanting, praise, lamentations, a wake-up call that
there could be peace and justice in the land.
| |
The future is ours to accept, shown in the faces and heard in
the voices of the young.... will we be brave enough to accept
a future of peace, or will we stick to the status quo? What will
the next few days bring?
