Annanda’s Letter to the Congregation

November 7, 2019

Dear First Presbyterian Members and Friends,

Allow me to begin this letter by stating how blessed I have been during my time with you all. It has been a pleasure, honor, and privilege to be your pastor. In the 3.5 years that we have spent together, this congregation has evolved, grown, and stretched in ways I believe have us all pleasantly surprised. For any congregation, what you have accomplished in our time together having had a different Head of Staff, each year truly is no small evidence of your faithfulness, grit, and ability.

My last Sunday with you all will be on November 24th. I am sad to leave, but clearly hear God’s call in needing to make a change in my life. Keeping in good standing with healthy Presbyterian policy, I will be unavailable and out of reach for at least a year. It will only be with Bruce’s permission, after a year, that I may return for a visit. Albeit jarring, the detachment is necessarily good. I ask that it be respected for the good of FPCPA, it will allow me time to grieve and adjust to a different role as it relates to this congregation.

Dissolving pastoral relationships is never easy, but know I part with you in Christian love, will pray for you as always, and will truly cherish the memories and growth I’ve experienced while serving you as pastor. I’m thankful for having had the opportunity to serve you during seasons of transitions.

May we continue in this next era of our lives with unabashed faith in God, without whom nothing is possible.

So proud to have the privilege to be your pastor,

Rev. Annanda G. Barclay
