There are approximately 400 million guns in the hands of civilians in the US. Every day 100 people die from gun violence and another 200 are shot and wounded. The gun lobby has lied to us by telling us that guns will make us safer, but guns only bring more death and destruction. As followers of Jesus, we are called to interrupt this violence and embody the way of peace.
The Presbyterian Peace Fellowship has a campaign called #Guns2Gardens in which unwanted guns from the community are collected and disabled so they can never be used again.
If you would like to lead this effort in our congregation or want more information, we invite you to contact Parish Associate, Geoff Browning about how you can help make this important work become a reality in our congregation.
