From Saturday, March 16 – Monday, March 18, more than a hundred people will walk from Palo Alto to Wells Fargo Headquarters in San Francisco to protest Oily Wells’ continuing financing of fossil fuel infrastructure. On Monday, Wells Fargo Founders Day, the march culminates with a rally (11:30am at the Montgomery BART station) followed by a non-violent action at bank headquarters. We will challenge the bank to stop funding climate chaos and to become the first major U.S. bank to go fossil free.
The march starts at 8:30 am Saturday in Palo Alto, walking on sidewalks up El Camino Real most of the way. Rest stops and overnight stays are available, and marchers can join or drop out at any time. Our Cool Planet group will be hosting the Saturday lunch at the UCC Church in San Carlos and several of us plan to march that afternoon.
