It’s hard to believe that the summer has ended and the fall season is now fully upon us. After our summer vacation, the Reyes-Chow/Pugh family is fully moved into The Manse (Backyard Flowers Pictured), we’re getting used to living in Palo Alto, and life, in general, is settling down. We are grateful for the support, encouragement, and thoughtfulness with which folks have journeyed with our crew these first six months of ministry here at FPCPA.
With everything going on, it has been a few months since I have posted here, but I wanted to catch you up on a few things that that are going on here at the church. In addition to long-term worship planning, thinking through new communication strategies, and continuing to get to know one another, here are three events and gatherings that you are welcome to be a part of.
BREATHE: A Weekly Time for Prayer ― Every Tuesday night from 8:30-9:00 we will gather at the end of the day via a Zoom Group Video call for a time of centering, reflection, and prayer. Lead by Bruce or Annanda, take some time for silence, scripture, and prayer. No preparation needed. To register: http://bit.ly/fpcpazoomprayer
CONGREGATIONAL RETREAT: Ready, Set, Grow? — On October 19, 9:00-1:00, we will gather as a congregation to reflect on the past, think about the future and begin conversations about our growth in body, mind, and spirit. During our time we will explore all of the complexities and questions that arise when congregations talk about growing, “What does growth even mean?”, “What might we give up?”, “What might we gain?” “Why haven’t we grown already?”, “What might we do to grow in the future?”
The day will be fun, insightful, and a launching pad for some planning over the next six months as we think about what is next. There will be light breakfast and lunch will be served between the retreat and my installation worship service.
INSTALLATION SERVICE ― Immediately following the Congregational retreat, from 2:00-4:00, we will gather with folks from San Jose Presbytery for my Official Installation Service. This is a time for us to make formal my call here at First Presbyterian. There will be light refreshments and plenty of fun!
