Worship Director

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Worship Director is responsible for coordinating the planning and implementation of our Sunday Hybrid Worship Service, acting as primary Zoom Host, coordinating Sunday worship volunteers, and providing other program assistance as needed.

THE DETAILS:

This position is a local position that requires 20/hours per week including Sundays. This 12-month position is compensated at $40 per hour. A worship laptop will be provided as well as $25 per month to cover the use of a personal phone, internet. A professional expense account of $50/month is provided. You will be supervised by Rev. Bruce Reyes-Chow, Pastor and Head of Staff.

HOW YOU WILL SPEND YOUR TIME WITH US:

While you will have plenty of hands to help, you will be the primary person in charge of the following areas:

  • Zoom Host: You will be the primary Hybrid Worship Zoom host. You must have an understanding of Zoom culture and architecture. You should be able to smoothly and calmly toggle between full-screen sharing and regular view; start, add, and end multiple spotlights; and run and edit polls.
  • Worship Planning: You will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of our worship planning including tracking worship themes and special Sundays, create the weekly Google slide deck, sending reminders to all worship leadership, and shifting from Google Sheets to Planning Center,
  • Sunday Funday: You will be responsible for implementing the weekly vision for our Sunday Hybrid Worship Service. This includes coordinating the roles and duties of the Audio Visual Coordinator, Church Sexton, Pastor, Music Director, Liturgists, Tech Deacons, Ushers, Special Guests, etc.

  • You will be responsible for supervising and supporting the Audio Visual Coordinator.

  • You run with projects and take initiative, but are also willing to seek help when needed.
  • You have theological grounding through congregational participation or formal education. 
  • You have experience using most, if not all of the following: Zoom, OBS, Google Slides and Sheets, Canva, Slack, and Planning Center; familiarity with social media platforms helpful, but not required.

Audio Visual Coordinator

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Audio-Visual Coordinator is responsible for the upkeep, implementation, and volunteer support for the audio and visual system of the church.

THE DETAILS:

This position is a local position that requires 10/hours per week including Sundays. This 12-month position is compensated at $25 per hour. A smartphone and computer are required, but we will provide $50 per month to cover phone, internet, and computer use. You will be supervised by the Worship Director.

HOW YOU WILL SPEND YOUR TIME WITH US:

While you will have plenty of people who will help you to get up to speed on our current system [Allen & Heath iDR 8] and multiple video outputs], you will be the primary person in charge of the following areas:

  • You will be responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting our volunteer Audio/Visual Team.
  • You will be responsible for maintaining the sound system collating and updating documentation.
  • You will be responsible for inventorying, tracking, and maintaining current and future audio and video equipment throughout the campus.
  • You will be responsible for coordinating an assessment of our current audio/visual system.
  • You will be responsible for training additional part-time staff in support of other events on campus.
  • Sunday Funday: Working with the Worship Director you will be responsible for the set-up of all microphones, cameras, zoom interface, and other audio/visual needs as needed. During worship, you and/or an A/V volunteer will be responsible for operating the soundboard.

Digital storytelling Intern

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Digital Storytelling intern will work with Pastor and primary Digital Storyteller, Rev. Bruce Reyes-Chow, in refining and executing a congregational digital ministry strategy. Duties will include curating and creating content, regular posting to social media platforms, video editing, responding to social inquiries, and developing one agreed upon independent project. Supervision and reflection will be done with a focus on the use of digital media in congregational life.

THE DETAILS:

This position is a remote or local position that requires 15/hours per week including Sundays. This position is compensated at $20 per hour, July 15 – June 30, 2022. A smart phone and computer are required, but we will provide $50 per month to cover phone, internet, and computer use. You will be supervised by Rev. Bruce Reyes-Chow, Pastor, Head of Staff, and primary Digital Storyteller.

HOW YOU WILL SPEND YOUR TIME WITH US:

  • Curating and creating content (video, images, copy) for @FPCPaloAlto social platforms.
  • Scheduling and posting daily content to various social platforms.
  • Engaging with visitors and participants through various social platforms.
  • Supporting live sharing during Sunday services.
  • Developing one independent social media project.
  • Meeting regularly with Staff colleagues and The Communications Ministry Team.
  • Meeting for at least one hour a week in a supervisory and coaching capacity with Bruce to reflect on the role and use of social media in congregational life.
